75 yr old Mrs. Swarn Ailawadi, recovered from Covid- 19 Infection by the end of April 2021 and was preexisting Diabetic, Hypertensive and Bronchial Asthmatic. Her SpO2 had dropped to 80% was treated at home because of non- availability of beds in hospitals. She was treated with steroids, insulin and immune- modulation through which she fortunately recovered well at home. After some days in the mid of May, she developed symptoms of Mucormycosis experiencing right eye pain and numbness in right side of face. She was rushed to Kailash Hospital Noida & consulted to Sr. Consultant Physician Dr. Sanjay Mahajan. She was advised to undergo some diagnostic investigations. Patient’s NCCT PNS detected signs of Sinusitis, while her Brain MRI showed Mucosal thickening of right sided sinuses and ENT Biopsy diagnosed signs of Mucormycosis. The patient was admitted on 13th May and treatment was started through Liposomal Amphotericin B & FESS (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery) debridement of sinuses. After days of treatment Patient recovered well & was discharged on 24th May with oral Posaconazole. Her family is thankful to the Medical team and the hospital services that helped their patient recover to health.
