ENT Coblation: Safe Treatment of Adenotonsilectomy | Kailash Hospital Sector 27 Noida

Dr. Sanjeev Chawla, Sr. Consultant ENT at Kailash Hospital, Sec-27 Noida elaborates about an advanced ENT technique called ‘Coblation’. According to Dr. Chawla, Coblation is a surgical technology which stands for controlled ablation. It is a plasma based radiofrequency system that works in a controlled way on each and every step.

Mechanism: According to the Coblation mechanism, its equipment generates tissue-level plasma and breaks the bonding of tissue molecules.

Importance: In this technique, the generating heat is quite low. As it is generates tissue-level heat, its temperature remains between 40 and 70 degrees which is quite low in comparison to cautery-based techniques whose temperature varies around 400 degrees. This reduces the changes of any type of thermal injury and increases the dissection of tissue.

Uses of Coblation: It is a safe and effective technique being used in basic ENT surgeries including for adenoids, tonsils, lingual tonsils, lingual thyroid, and snoring surgeries. It is also effective in vocal-chord surgeries, papillomatosis and for the fluid retention. Apart from this, Coblation technique can also be used in complex surgeries such as tumor and sinus related surgeries.

According to the doctor, the use of the technique has extensively helped Kailash Hospital in bringing desired results, especially in ENT surgeries.

Advanced medical technology supports all simple to complex treatments.
